Following the outcry over the announcement of the closure of the basin Diving Olympic Park, the Olympic Installations Board (RIO) has decided to conduct a broad consultation with stakeholders.
The RIO said Wednesday in a press release that she wanted to “hear and receive proposals” sports organizations and community, as well as the Office of Film and Television in Quebec, schools and local elected officials on “issues of occupation, management and renovation “basin depth of 15 m.
In mid-December, the closing of the Olympic pool was announced by the RIO. To justify its decision, she explained that the construction of the National Sports Institute of Quebec and the renovation of the Sports Centre required a redesign of the space and a new resource allocation. She mentioned that divers could practice their sport in the pool 5 meters.
With the help of the MNA Lucie Charlebois, the Quebec Federation of Underwater Activities launched a petition on the website of the National Assembly for counter basin closure. It had less than 2000 signatures on Wednesday afternoon.
World Confederation of Underwater Activities, the Office of Film and Television in Quebec and architect of the Olympic Stadium, Roger Taillibert also denounced the decision of the RIO.
